Pocket Web Sync (USB-C)

Sync Pocket recordings over USB-C with Pocket Web or Desktop

Pocket Web Sync allows you to transfer recordings directly from your Pocket device to your computer using a USB-C cable. This is the fastest way to sync large files and manage your device storage.

Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  1. Updated Firmware: Your Pocket device must be on the latest firmware (v1.0 or later). Check this in the Pocket app settings.
  2. USB-C Data Cable: Use the braided cable included in the box or any high-quality USB-C data cable. Some charging-only cables will not work.
  3. Supported Browser: For Pocket Web, use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave. Safari and Firefox do not currently support the required USB file system access.

Step 1: Enable Web Sync

By default, Pocket acts only as a charging device when plugged in. To enable data transfer:

  1. Open the Pocket App on your phone.
  2. Go to Settings -> Pocket Web Sync (or "USB Mode").
  3. Toggle the setting ON.
  4. Connect your Pocket to your computer via USB-C.

Note: You may need to keep the app open or re-toggle this setting if you disconnect and reconnect the device.

Step 2: Sync Your Memories

You can sync using either the web interface or the desktop app.

Option A: Pocket Web (Browser)

  1. Navigate to app.heypocket.com in a supported browser (Chrome/Edge/Brave).
  2. Click "Connect Pocket Drive" or the sync icon.
  3. When the browser prompt appears, select the POCKET drive (or the RECORD folder inside it).
  4. Click "Sync Memories".
  5. Wait for the transfer to complete. Do not disconnect your device while syncing.

Option B: Pocket Desktop App

  1. Open the Pocket Desktop app.
  2. Connect your Pocket via USB-C.
  3. The app should detect the drive automatically. If not, click "Refresh".
  4. Click "Sync memories".

Troubleshooting

Browser doesn't see the device

  • Ensure you are using Chrome, Edge, or Brave.
  • If using Brave, first enable File System Access, then disable "Shields" for app.heypocket.com if the picker still does not appear.
  • Check that the cable supports data transfer (try another cable).

"USB Mode" won't enable

  • Ensure your Pocket is connected to your phone via Bluetooth.
  • Try restarting the Pocket device (hold side button for 5s to off, then on).

Sync is stuck or slow

  • Ensure the cable is securely connected.
  • Avoid using USB hubs if possible; connect directly to the computer.

Web Sync FAQ

Which browsers support Pocket Web Sync?

Use Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave. Safari and Firefox do not currently support the browser file-system access required for Web Sync.

Why does my cable charge Pocket but not sync recordings?

Some USB-C cables are charge-only. Use the braided cable included with Pocket or another USB-C cable that supports data transfer.

Should I use Web Sync or Wi-Fi sync?

Use Web Sync when you want the fastest transfer, have a large recording, or prefer syncing from a computer. Use Wi-Fi sync when you are importing from the mobile app without a cable.

Can I disconnect Pocket while syncing?

No. Keep Pocket connected until the transfer finishes so files are copied cleanly.
