Wi-Fi Sync Troubleshooting
Fix stuck Quick Transfer, missing recordings, and resync issues
Use this when Pocket is connected to the app, but recordings are not transferring, Quick Transfer is stuck, or a recording needs to be pulled from the device again.
Before you retry
- Keep the Pocket app open in the foreground until the transfer finishes.
- Keep your phone close to Pocket.
- Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both on.
- Disable VPN, iCloud Private Relay, Low Data Mode, and battery saver while syncing.
- Keep Pocket charged or plug it into power for longer transfers.
Try Resync from Device
If the recording is still on Pocket but missing, incomplete, or stuck in the app:
- Open the Pocket app.
- Make sure Pocket shows as connected.
- Tap the three-dot menu on the home screen.
- Tap Resync From Device.
- Select the recording and tap Resync.
The Resync option only appears when Pocket is connected. If you do not see it, reconnect Pocket first.
If Quick Transfer gets stuck
Quick Transfer uses Bluetooth to control Pocket, then switches to a direct Wi-Fi connection for faster file transfer. Do not background the app while this is happening.
- Leave the Pocket app open for another minute.
- If it still does not move, stop the transfer.
- Force-quit and reopen the Pocket app.
- Restart Pocket: hold the side button for about 5 seconds to turn it off, wait 10 seconds, then hold the side button again to turn it on.
- Reconnect Pocket and try the transfer again.
If the same file keeps failing over Wi-Fi, try syncing it with normal Bluetooth sync or Pocket Web Sync over USB-C.
Check permissions
iPhone
Open Settings -> Pocket and allow:
- Bluetooth
- Local Network
- Location, if requested
iOS requires Local Network permission for the app to connect to Pocket's temporary Wi-Fi network during Quick Transfer.
Android
Open Settings -> Apps -> Pocket -> Permissions and allow:
- Nearby devices
- Location
Android uses location-related Wi-Fi permissions to discover and connect to nearby Wi-Fi networks. If you previously denied them, switch them back on in system settings and restart the app.
Still stuck
Try a clean retry:
- Force-quit the Pocket app.
- Restart Pocket.
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on on your phone.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on on your phone.
- Reopen Pocket, wait for it to connect, then use Resync From Device or Sync Faster (Quick Transfer) again.
If none of this works, use Pocket Web Sync with USB-C for the transfer, then contact support with your phone model, OS version, Pocket app version, Pocket LED state, and a short screen recording.
