Device Management

Managing your Pocket device connectivity and setup

Pocket is designed to work seamlessly with your hardware device. This guide covers the setup process and how to keep your device synced and up-to-date.

Initial Setup

When you first open the Pocket app, you'll be guided through the onboarding process:

  1. Bluetooth Pairing: The app will search for your Pocket device. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and your device is powered on.
  2. Permissions: Pocket requires Bluetooth and Location permissions (on Android) to discover and connect to your device.
  3. Voiceprint: You may be asked to record a short voice sample to help Pocket identify you in multi-speaker conversations.

Bluetooth Sync

Once paired, your device connects automatically whenever it's in range.

  • Auto-reconnect: The app attempts to reconnect in the background if the connection is lost.
  • Memory Transfer: Recordings made on your device are automatically transferred to the app over Bluetooth.
  • Status Indicators: You can see the battery level and connection status of your device directly in the app's home screen.

Firmware Updates (OTA)

We constantly improve Pocket with new features and performance enhancements.

  • Automatic Checks: The app checks for firmware updates periodically.
  • Over-the-Air (OTA): Updates are delivered wirelessly from your phone to your device.
  • WiFi Updates: Some larger updates might require your device to connect directly to WiFi for faster downloading.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble connecting:

  • Ensure your device is charged and nearby.
  • Toggle Bluetooth off and on in your phone's settings.
  • Restart the Pocket app.
